If you have transport and time you can likely travel to Taupo and connect with one of the commercial hunting guides who operate from there . Not the ideal time for hunting deer with most species having young at foot at that time but there is bound to be a few spikers or yearling hinds about - and the guides will have places to go that will give some certainty as well .
