As earlier stated, my experience is limited on the .338 Win...I had one once in a used custom..found out the head space was off and got rid of it...however have a really good friend Jim who has only used this caliber for many years--primarily on elk..he swears by it..using 225 gr partitions is his favorite load..

The 338 Ultra I have is a tack driver--all factory--which I plan to take with me next fall on a do-it-yourself caribou hunt in Alaska...figured plenty flat for some longer shots and plenty of power should I run into a unfriendly griz..

I do know the .338 Win is a very popular caliber in my neck of the woods,,, especially with those that do a lot of hunting for elk, moose or bear.....as I mentioned earlier,,, believe 500Nitro is correct in saying for their buff over there., the 375 or bigger is a better choice...
