Re: Hunting around Brisbane?

G'day Albertan,
Hunting.
within a days drive certainly covers a lot of ground. Within 3-4 hours drive of the CBD we have good numbers of Red & Fallow deer, and the odd Rusa. All hunting in Queensland is on Private land. At present we have no access to public land within the state. We also have the odd pig, fox, feral cat and dingo about. Rabbits and hares of course. At present ducks are off the agenda due to a ban on their hunting by the Government.
Unless you know someone here I would suggest that the only way you have a chance of getting out for a hunt is with a guide.
Within a 10-12Hrs drive of the CBD you'll find pig, goats, brumbies and scrub cattle.
Fishing
Plenty of fishing both fresh and salt.
Fresh water: Aussie bass, perch, sarotaga, sooty grunter, golden perch, catfish are all found in dams within 3 -4 hrs drive. Barra. within a 6 hr drive.
Salt water: I'm not much into it but game fishing in Moreton bay (right at Brisbane)and plenty of bottom fishing.
Within the last 3 months I have within 2 hours drive of the CBD shot a reasonable red stag, a wild dog, and shot at and missed a fairly average pig. 12yr old son has also caught some good Aussie Bass and Saratoga.
Good luck. Drop me a PM if you need to know more.
Rod
