"Orion" and I are off to the Top End in about five days. We have left plenty time for the 3200 km drive. Adelaide Barossa Port Augusta Cooper Pedy Alice Springs Tennant Creek Maryvale Arnhemland Various other towns along the way. Four to five days of driving up the "Red Centre". Then we will be with Graham Williams of Australian Buffalo Hunters at his Arnhemland camp. A couple water buffalo each, maybe a second each. I'm hoping for a nice scrub bull, looking to grand slam the Aussie Bovines, water bufalo, scrub bull and then oneday Banteng. Pigs as we come across them. Graham has another American client and his wife there while we are there so it will be good to meet them as well. After that hopefully we can meet up with some guys in Darwin. Whomever can make it for a shandy and prawns overlooking the harbour. Have provisionally setup a station to the West for some pigs. The area is major floodplains and is reported to have lots of pigs. Maybe some magpie geese and ducks too. Will see if we can organise this but it is more than 50 percent likely. A long drive home. Taking a Canon Digital SLR plus a Canon Pro video camera. Lets see if I can learn the last one as we go. Armaments. Orion is keen for his deadly "Karamojo" style Mannlicher in 6.5x54mm M-S to slay the bovines and boars. NitroX plans the .450 to get another look, plus maybe the 9.3 mm. Not squirrel rifle for me. Hoping for lots of new photos and if we are lucky some hunt videos. |

In reply to: Tony 29th or 30th sound good. Will check with Marrakai and Graham Williams as well. We will still be in Arnhemland on the morning of the 29th, one and a half hours North-East out of Bulman. How long do you think it would take to get from Bulman, down to highway via Maranboy, then Katherine to Darwin? The 29th if we can get there in a reasonable time ie 6pm at the latest, otherwise the 30th if it is chancy. We will need to drop off a boat and trailer somewhere in town too. Looking for a good motel/hotel with good parking preferably near the rooms in Darwin. Drop off the trailer and leave it there while we do other things. Or someone's house if they are willing. Like a reasonable place, not budget. Any suggestions of nice motels/hotels like this that you know of? I like the place I stayed in in central Darwin but quite expensive. I would stay there again if they aren't booked out. |

Mate I've never been to Bulman so I can't comment on the time/distance. Most motels and hotels are pricey during the dry. We stay at the Marina View appartments in Cullen Bay. $150 for a two bed appartment (during the wet) There is under ground secured parking and if given notice I wouldn't think a boat is to much trouble. I may be working on those days but I'll see how we go. |

The date will be the 30th of August. The venue and time to be advised when I get onto Marrakai, otherwise we will find a different place if he can't make it. Graham Williams and co will be there. Orion and I so far. (Bakes - GW advised from the camp from Bulman we would only make it after dark probably a bit later, which is what I thought.) |

En respuesta a: I'll be back on 29th . I'll fly from Gove to Darwin on 27th and I'll spend all 28th day in Darwin. BTW, on 17th I'll be on Katherine to be driven to Dorisvale. |

470nitro You will be back in Spain on the 29th or in Darwin? I anticipate Orion and I will arrive in Darwin late on the 29th. We were aiming for the 29th for the dinner but I was told we probably will get there well after dark. It is possible we can meet up for a drink anyway. I will PM you my mobile number and I have yours. |

470nitro Unfortunately we will miss each other by one day. We will be finishing off in Arnhemland on the 28th and leaving the 29th. If there is to be a dinner in Darwin otherwise we will head somewhere else. Probably in Cooper Pedy on the night of 17th also. Good luck with your hunt with Matt Graham. Hope you take a nice buffalo and enjoy the buffalo and pig hunting. |

Currently in Alice Springs. Two days of driving down and 2 1/2 left. So far I have only been the navigator. |
||||||||

Good luck. Post some pics when you get back. I was intending to go after buff with Graham Williams next month but I booked a scrub bull/pig/heli fishing hunt in Cape York the week before Graham rang to let me know of a vacant hunting slot. Oh well ,send plenty of pics to let me know what I,m missing out on until next year. |

Arrived back this afternoon. A good trip with 5 bovines taken and 45 pigs between us. Some exciting hunting. Photos and some stories soon. Also video footage. |

Welcome back. Looking forward to the report. |

Just a teaser for now. Lots of photos to work through and stories to write before I forget. |

Good to see you guys got home safe, I've already eaten one of the "speck's" you gave me Orion, went down well with the blokes at work as well. Have opened the second one today |

Most of the photos are up with the stories being added. Soon to be viewable. In the meantime a few more photographs. . |

I look forward to reading more John. And I'm real envious that you have all these buff hunting options in your own country. Even if you have to drive for some day. It sure beats flying halfway around the world. Erik |

Erik You are not wrong. Something has got in the way of the story, organising a trip back up there in a couple of weeks time for a buffalo culling weekend. Someone's got to do it. This time I definitely want the 9.3mm along. |

|
|
|||||||
What a great trip! Did you get a chance to try out those shooting sticks I sent you? |

The teasers got my mouth watering for the full story and photo's. |
