Re: factory ammo

I have recovered some 270 grain Power points from my 375 and they looked pretty good as well.

That bullet looks good mate.

Big Stag ????................Do tell.

Why the knife change ?.

Re: factory ammo

Second knife has a better point for digging pills out mate.

I took a pic of the GR as a mate did the antler handle for me and he likes to see the knife work.

The stag is on ice for now.

Re: factory ammo

That is good performance. The Winchester Power Points were always a favourite for me - seemed to work properly on most game, most calibres. In the .375H&H - there are few 270gr. that perform as well.

An old friend of mine switched me to them for my BRNO. He showed me at least 15 that he'd kept from Elk in Montana when he guided at the TBar3 dude ranch (I think that was the ranch name). Every PP Winchester looked identical to the others & to the one pictured above, with the same or barely more shank and every one was dug out from under the hide on the offside after the double lung shot.

Amen Daryl,I have been saying virtually the same thing for so many years, qualified with "out of my 7mm RM" posted on here and other places,I advise new hunters how good they work (kill) yet people want the latest and greatest super performance this and that made out of this and that and shaped like .......even I get into the 'others' with spruiking Woodleigh`s too but I don't have them in 7mm.

I can attest to them dropping mature big stags in the shoulder for consistent one shot kills.

There is a tobacco tin full of them here somewhere also, consistent performance over 30 years says to me...buy another box or two.

I went out last night with my last two Win pills. As back up I took a couple of Rem Corloks...I prev bought two boxes from a mate a couple of years ago that were going cheap however I will get some Winny`s as soon as get to the LGS thats 2 hours away

Re: factory ammo

The 180gr. PP in '06 and also in .303 has anchored more moose than any other single bullet style I know of. Out at 300yards, which is further than most guys have any business shooting big game at, they continue to work as well as any other bullet.

I do like the old Core locks myself.
Loved them in my 280.

Yes I wish I could find them as a component in 9.3, at there steady velocity I think they would work beautifully.

Loaded ammo only atm.
