rifled inserts
      #86090 - 22/09/07 11:46 PM

Hi folks, just found this site a few days ago and find it most informative. While brousing the past posts I saw where a couple of guys mentioned full length rifled inserts, I would like any ideas ,information, or sources for these. I am now working on doing a 20g/22 hornet combo project.I would be interested in the inserts before I order a 22 cal. blank and turn it down to fit. Ideas and opinions appreciated.
Thanks, Ken

Get in touch with Dale Nygaard here on the forum and on AR. He posts under DLN and is presently in Germany, buying drillings and DRs. I am getting one of the drillings he is after and another Kreighoff 22mag insert for it.

There are a lot of used 16ga inserts there, but 20ga inserts are uncommon. They are made and work well. I had a full length in 22 hornet that was amazing.

Ken,

K&S makes the inserts for Krieghoff.

Can anybody share the accuracy of using Lothar Walther inserts to convert a centerfire to a rimfire? I would love to better understand how a .22 Win Mag would behave fired from a German single shot rifle in .222.

It is against the law to fire centerfire cartridges at night in Michigan, but night hunting for fox and coyote is allowed. So it would be great to use one firearm with two cartridges.

Thanks,

Ben

Ken,

Per this page on K&S, a 22 Hornet insert for a 20 gauge is 839 euros. Shipping and incidentals, maybe 1300-1500 USD to your door. Installation would have to figure in somewhere as well.

Krieghoff had been importing them in 2003 for their own weapons. But I bet it would not be too tough to bring it in on one's own.
