Does the safety on the Ruger single shot block both the sear and the trigger?

From an old Ruger wall poster..........

Ruger No 1 Single Shot Rifle.

"The sliding shotgun type safety engages both the sear and the hammer directly to provide an absolute maximum of safety. The safety cannot be put on if the hammer is not cocked, but the action may be opened and closed whether the safety is on or off".
