Montana Black Bear season 2019 has begun

A friend was hunting on a ranch that I manage... stumbled onto this guy.. nice bear... awesome hide and big head... congrats to him..

Sorry for the poor photo.. he is not a photographer for sure.. but he does kill bears..

Lucky for you in Montana......our Colorado Bunny Huggers (Bear huggers? - thanks Boulder & Aspen) convinced the State Government to eliminate Spring Bear Season.

WOW..had no idea Colorado had done that.. yes, we are still lucky here.. don't see that changing anytime soon.. but we have the Kalifornia influence showing up here as well in the cities.. or you find them lost hiking in the forest...

Not many people hunting them around here any more. We have an overabundance of them.
We went out to the BlackWater range today to do some testing with the Sharps. Saw a mother with only one of last year's cubs. Other 2 didn't make it. Could have been a boar or wolves.
We should start seeing quite a few now, brown and black phases.
