143 Sheep Die Trying to Escape Two Wolves in Idaho

Dac Collins

Officials with Idaho Fish and Game confirmed Thursday some of the details behind a major wolf depredation event that took place in the Boise Foothills earlier this month. IDFG initially received a report of two wolves causing a pileup that killed an entire flock of 143 sheep.

Then they run off to kill some more.
Those are not dog-sized wolves, boys and girls.
If the dogs had remained, they'd have died as well. NP for these wolves.

in 2008 a high speed train meets 20-30 sheeps in a tunnel with 230 km/h here. it was a real damage then https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eisenbahnunfall_im_Landr%C3%BCckentunnel

the sheeps were in a corral near the railway. the conclusion was that dogs hunt the sheeps over the fence and into the tunnel. this was the time when the wolf found new land very quickly and the wolf fuckers were singing his hym of praise every day. they never found the dogs but never looking for the wolf because this bad news was nothing that fits into the success story.

NO, the wolves have near angelic status amoung its promoters, facts can not get in the way..

I believe in 2017 here in Montana we had a very heavy snow year.. especially in the northern part of the state.. deep snow tunnals along the train tracks.. Pronghorn antelope got in one of those deep snow tunnels and couldn't find their way out before the train come through. Killed over 60 pronghorn on its first pass through.. Nothing to do with wolves, but your stroy above reminded me of that incident..

That train track snow tunnel happens with moose here in BC and Alberta. A stretch of tracks about 30 miles long, between here and McGregor, B.C. kills 50 to 100 moose per winter.

Such incidents of massive sheep fatalities are unfortunately frequent in the Pyrenees Mountains in summer time, when sheep are left feeding in mountain pastures. Incidents are usually triggered by brown bears (fully protected by law in France) preying on sheep, then entire flocks stampeding and sometimes jumping off cliffs. Even Great Pyrenees dogs commonly used for protecting flocks cannot always keep bears away. Wolves (also fully protected) are not yet a major problem in the Pyrenees but are already a serious one on the French side of the Alps Mountains.
