11x60 Schuler?
      #315657 - 26/04/18 11:14 AM

Gentlemen,

I just purchased a 11x60 Schuler 20" stutzen, I was curious if any of you had information or any articles on the 11x60 schuler? Thank you.

have a 11,2x60 Schüler too
there is nothing written about it then the usual suspects
best basic case for making brass is 458 Win Mag, Wim Degol in Belgium makes original 330 grains .440 bullets but as a start you can press .451 revolver bullets down to .440.
the common .230 grains fmj for the 45 ACP makes a good target bullet.
I use an old RCBS 11,15x60R Mauser die set for relaoding.

Do you have any reloading data? Having trouble finding it in the USA.

Thank you.

you will not only not finding reloading data in the united states but also not on another place on this planet

original ballistics was 665 m/sec with a 21 gramm bullet, have all the reloading stuff but no time to work it up with modern powder.
my common powder is Vithavuori N 140 and something like 50 grains would be a starting point with the 330 grains softpoint

original DWM pre war cartridge and handload with horneber case and degol bullet

The 1934 DWM load for the 11.2x60 Schüler was a 21.5 g = 332 gr jacketed bullet ahead of 4 g = 61.7 gr of the long obsolete R5 powder for 680 m/s = 2231 fps.
From my experience R5 was a smokeless powder with a burning rate slightlx faster than 4064. I usually substitute it with the slower N140 for a start. Many rifles shot to the sights with this recipe.

notice that 680 m/sec was realize with a 72 cm test barrel, see "Patrone und Schuß" page 107
thinking 665 m/sec is more realistic

I believe these were made to strip from normal 8x57 clips, so if you can try them it will save loose cartridges rattling in your pocket during a hunt!
Would like to see your 'modern reloading' data when get around to it, rather interesting cartridge the 11.2x60mm!
Woodleigh also makes bullets for this calibre - item 67
