6342- Husqvarna Sporter in 9.3x57. Good bore. Drilled and tapped with weaver type bases. Drilled and tapped for side mount. Stock has a chip behind the tang. Tiny chip on butt plate only. Overall very good condition.

$225.00



Only way to be better would be if the bolt was already turned - no big deal though & might be. It's a Model 46 Husky.

Their Zastava's run .30/06, 7mm mag and 300mag for $450.00 with plastic stocks. Also, 8x57's and .30/06 in the M96's for $195.00 up.

At this time, I think they only ship inside Canada. Will have to check if non-Canadian.

Those are great deals. I bought one in 9.3x63 almost like it. Notice how they are pretty much Mauser type B clones ?

Allen's in the States sells the Husky's but seems to me, he adds about $150.00 to the Canadian prices. Most I've seen are close to $400.00 or over.

I do need to pick up another or 2 before Anthony raises his prices. My m46 in 9.3x57 is great and accurate. I'd like a 9x57 and a 9.3x62 - the 9x57 is a Mauser, while the 9.3x62's are M146 Huskys - both around $325.00 to $350.00.

Try to find somewhere Husqvarna m246, itīs 9,3x62 caliber version of m146. I have one.

I think the 146 model designation just differentiated between the m96 and m98 actions. In other words, you can find a 146 in x57 and ream it out to x62 without issue. I did just this to a pair of 146s a couple years back...turned out great.

allmost ever experience show: what seem expensive today would be a bargain ten years from now.

I've never heard of a M246. The guys on a swedish forum call all of the M98 Huskys M146, no matter the chambering.

Also, they have M46's (the M94/96 action) chambered for 9.3x62 and .30/06.

Yes - whatever can be afforded should be picked up now, as this is as cheap as they'll ever be. Actually, I said this 3 years ago when I bought my m46 for $275.00, yet they are on average $50.00 cheaper now for the same quality rifle.

OK - I see the error of our ways. The M94 actioned 9.3x62's are M46AN and model 98 actions are called 246's.

Gotcha - although I now seem to remember the 46A in 9.3x57 was teh same as a M46, but without a stripper clip thumb cut and the model 246's were m98's in 9.3x62 without the thumb cuts while the M146's were 9.3x62's with the stripper clip thumb cuts. It's all very confusing.

Actually, there is no m146 in 9,3x62, only in 9,3x57. Both actions (m146 and m246) have FN military version action with thumbcut and stripper clip. And notice that older m640`s have m98 military action too, the main differences are in sights and another small details.

OK - so what do you call the Husky's without the thumb cut? I've seen the pictures of them posted on gunboards.

Those actions are mostly Husqvarna`s export models, such as Mod. 1000, 1100 (calibers 270 Win/.220 Swift / 30-06 Springfield) and 2104F (caliber .270 Win). Best way to identify them is facette ground bolt.

And some later mod.640`s (calibers 6,5x55mm/8x57IS/9,3x62) could have such actions too.

No, I'm not referring to the later export rifles such as you noted. I am talking about rifle that are exactly like my M46 or the M146's pictured so often on gunboards, but they do not have the thumb cutout.

The Swedish fellows on that site seem to know what they are talking about, except they call the 9.3x62's chambered in M98 Husky's as being M146's, not M246's. I've seen too many of them pictured there to think they are anything else.

On that post, yes - called a M246. Sorry, my mistake - might have been the re-chambered M146's I was thinking of, and the solid action sides with no thumb cuts being only on the M94 actioned 9.3x57 - or maybe also 9.3x62's on the same M94 action.

So - who's been barreling and chambering the M46's in .30/06 or are they factory chamberings? Of course, Tradeex calls them all M96's.

For example swedish STIGA. They used so called "strenghtened" m96 actions in their rifles. They build them in 8x57, .30-06 and 9,3x62.

Some listed here are noted to be Swedish M96 Sporters in .30/06 and 8x57's and yet others listed as STIGA M96 .30/06's rifles. too- Husky 8x57's on M96 actions as well. I wonder why no mention of 'strengthening' is made. How were they strengthened?

the strengthened some refer to is a Huskvarna Commercial made 96 receiver. They omitted the thumb cut, and call it strengthened. All 8x57's I have seen on 96's use this receiver. Without the thumb cut , it is not as good as a regular 96 at gas venting safely. Baribal on that Swedish forum is a real expert on them.

Congrats Caprivi! I think no better value in classic guns exists! I got my first 146 while in College and have only added to them sense then.

A few months back, a friend and I were out confirming his loads shot to the sights of his 46 in 9.3x57. I had one of my 146's in 9.3x62 with me and we shot them side by side for a good while, waging war on steel plates and rocks from 100 - 300 yards. I will say in shooting the 57 v. 62 side by side, the 57 is just a joy to shoot. The 62 started to wear on me a bit after 15 or so rounds. It wasn't bad at all, but the difference was certainly noticed.

You most certainly need to lob a 9.3 projectile across the Serengeti at a pronghorn with it! I took the little doe below at exactly 300 steps a couple of weeks ago. It was my 5 year old's first hunting trip with Dad, and he was quite insistent we bring home a deer to cook. I practice with my 9.3's regularly at that distance, though I had a 1.5-4.5x Kahles in EAW mounts on the particular 146 pictured.
