My current Mauser projects
      #205557 - 20/03/12 04:24 AM

The three barreled actions you see below are just about ready to go to McMillan for stocks. There are two 1909 Argentine Mausers, one in 9.3X62 with a heavy contour 22" barrel and one in 30'06 with a 24" light contour barrel; and there is one commercial FN Mauser from the early 50's with a light contour 24" barrel in 338'06. All three sport Lyman 48 receiver sights and the FN will mount a scope as well with Warne Maxima rings and bases. The front sights on the 338 and 30'06 are New England Custom Guns new folding hood banded front sight and the 9.3 has the NECG Masterpiece front sight with a removable hood. NECG did all the metal work and all three will be sent back to them for final fit and finish once John at McMillan finishes with the stocks. The 9.3X62 will wear a McMillan CZ Express stock and the other two will wear their Interarms Mark X stock.

Below are two Mark X Mausers (both Whitworths) that NECG did for me several years ago. One is in 458 Win Mag and the 416 Taylor. Both wear McMillan's CZ Express stock. As you can see they both have the same bolt handle design and Model 70 style bolt shroud that the guns above have. And they are both finished in Birdsong's Black-T.

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing pictures and congratulations! Hope to see pictures from successful hunts with these rifles in the future, and, possibly, to read an article in our E-zine if you have time?

Good hunting!

It looks like you will be well armed for virtually anything, anywhere, anytime

Nah, no 7x57 or 404 Jeffery

Seriously though, great selection.

Can I ask what safety/bolt shroud that is, as I'm assuming an original Mauser would have had the vertical one on top, not the M70 side style? Thinking one might look good on mine!

That brown one is one of the nicest synthetic-stocked rifles I've seen!

$80.00 cdn. at tradeexcanada.com
2-position safety

3 round detachable box magazine - standard calibres $49.00 (very nice for the price - had one - a friend needed it more than I did) - same place - tradeex, both for M98's. They must be available elsewhere.

The bolt shrouds on each of the five shown are made by Dakota and purchased thru Brownell's. In my opinion they are the best looking that are available, and work at least as well as any I've tried.

The color of the 458WM stock is actually a very nice tan or sand color, not the color shown in the picture. My camera's flash does weird things to color.

By the way, the 338'06 is for my son. His only other rifle is a very nice custom Rem 700 in 308 I had built for him so the 338 will give him some extra punch when going after Elk and bear.
