All from the same IP address including your last post.

Perhaps Curl edited your post so it doesn't look the same?

No, the only edit I did was to change the photo links after placing the photos on the NE.com server. Everything else is exactly as posted originally. The new photo links are to the NE.com server.

well I didn't post it, and I didn't make any of those rifles.
I would not want to take credit for anything I didn't do.

Decided to have a look - 4000 hits over 3 some years and not one comment on the rifles etc. No pros / cons / ?s so I guess the comment(s) can only be indifference. Since then I have added some more Mausers to my "so so" collection but why bother showing them if you get my drift. Just an old man blowing off a bit of disappointment - take care all, I still visit and enjoy this site every day. --- John

Have you got the 16 bore rifle stocked yet, John303? If so, how's it shoot and with what?

I too, would love an update on the 16 - Never heard of anyone doing this before
And you do good stock work! Did you end up getting the rest done?

Daryl & Ash, I gather you mean the 16 gau. in the pics, if so, yes I have all the pictured barreled action stocks refinished and put back together plus a few more. When I bought the 16 Remo I had no idea / clue about the muzzle loader barrel installed. I was informed that in Germany & perhaps else-where they hold muzzle loader shoots and I guess doing this modification meets the criteria without needing a muzzle loader???

I have since scrounged all the pieces to convert a Geha 16 gau. to 20 gau. rifled slug, should be quite good for deer around here. Ash, I suppose one could take any 98 Mauser and "Geha" it and install a slug barrel rifled / not. Geha variants are common and cheap, a 98 Remo is another story as they are rather scarce.

Daryl I have not fired the 16 / any of the rifles you see - health issues in the way but I still enjoy the "sport" now mostly by collecting stuff --- John

Ah John thats no good about the health! Hope it all pans out and you get to take them for a run. Not many would have a mauser based 16 or 20 bore rifle!

Very sorry for the delay getting these up, John! I believe you said you'd chime in with the info for each.

Heres the 16 bore. Reminds me of the old target rifles of similar caliber that someones uploaded here before. Is this rifled? If so, should get some open sights on it

They all came up great, in my opinion!

Thank you Ash for posting the pics., I however don't see one for the 16 gau.?? No its not rifled but sights would be a plus for sure.
On reading this over also a belated thank you to Steve for his prior posting.
All the Mauser rifles are 8x57, the 92 Win. is a 32-20. All Mausers had DSTs with the back trigger missing, I have several replacements to install.

Starting at the top - A commercial 1912 Oberndorff with integral DSTs, a octagon to round barrel with
integral rib & front sight ramp. This is rather a rare bird being one of three commercial rifles
(out of 4600+/-)used by the German military as a sniper rifle at the beginning of WW1. The claw mounts and scope are missing probably kept and used on the military sniper rifles? I feel very fortunate in owning such a historical piece. No makers name.

The second is a no name small ring, with a full length rib and nicely engraved.

The third is one by Merfert? with some fine "scroll" engraving.

The forth a no name bought in a moment of weakness.

The fifth is a 92 Winchester in 32-20 with an Octagon barrel, this rifle has been in the family
for some 80 years? and is now in the possession of my son.

I have quite a few more Mauser rifles in the clean up stages and will hopefully post pics. here
as I get them done

Gunship - I'm kind of out of the shooting aspect but the next generations will for sure - already
doing it in fact.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to view "my collection" feel free to ask any ???? and all take care. --- John

Well, no idea what happened to the first 2 lots of photos! I'll try and fix these up asap. Gotta try and refind the pics on my computer, unsure where the devils are hiding.

Tell ya what, Flickr is an absolute pain to use. Hopefully these ones are permanent!

Right! Heres round 2!

Start on the 16 bore:

And the Mauser from the 2nd post of photos!

John, Some very nice Mausers you have there. Your WW1 sniper rifle reminds me a lot of my Collath Mauser.

Hello John

Just having another look at your rifles . . can you tell me a bit more about the short Model 21 in 7x57, I have a very similar rifle in 8x57, and there has been much debate about whether my stock is original to the rifle. My rifles stock profile is very close if not identical to yours, the rifle has a 1942 Czech proof mark, but no other "Brno" marks apart from one tiny "circled z" that one sees on the military stuff, and it has the name of a Paris retailer on the barrel. My stock is not numbered to the rifle as I have seen on some 21's. My bolt has a guide rib, and the receiver has a charger hump with claw mounts, the front one being on a saddle on the receiver.

Thanks

Foster
