OahuKaneohe,
Very nice rifle and great photos!
Thanks for posting them.
There are a couple of threads here on these Whitworth Express rifles if you get time to search for them.
This one indeed looks like one of the early examples which has sweated on front and rear sight and barrel band, as well as Birmingham proof marks.

I'm interested to know the action build date on your rifle.
It is located on the left side of the rear receiver ring, between the aperture sight mounting screw holes.

Thanks again for showing!

Between the receiver sight holes are the numbers 0774, which I think means it was made in July 1974.

Yes the rear sight is sweated on, there are no mounting screws. Front same. There is no front recoil lug on the barrel. The stock on my 9.3 x 62 is a later one with the square cut out in the
front end for a square recoil lug on the barrel.

This has the inside the trigger guard magazine release. The later Whitworths have sort of a transverse button on the t/g to release it and the stock is relieved to accomodate the button.

The 9.3 stock has that relief cut.

Thanks for that action date.
I have a .458 Whitworth quite similar to your .375.
Mine has a standing 100 yard sight plus two folding, where yours has 3 folding.
Mine is 11-75 action date and like your rifle it does not have the barrel recoil lug which later models had.
They are a lot of rifle for the money IMO.
