Merry Christmas to Me: Lyman 36
      #372207 - 11/12/22 09:00 AM

I've been looking for a Lyman 36 for a while to add to one of my Mannlichers. As much as I like the cocking piece aperture sights, I feel that the Lyman 36 is the Holy Grail of aperture sights for the Mannlicher. I own a Lyman 35 which lives on my Simson sporter Mauser.
I managed to score a 36 that appears to be in the original box and never used. I thought that I would post some pictures of the sight for you all to see.

I chuckled when I saw the $12.00 price tag on the box. I suppose that was pretty pricey when new.

Fjrdoc - what a score!
Well done indeed - very stylish pieces of kit!
Yes a peep sight certainly is a great addition to any rifle.
Love those on my BRNO ZKK600 & P14!

Thanks 93x64mm. I like the Lyman 35 and 36 because they don't hinder access to the safety. My Mannlicher with the cocking piece peep is a joy to shoot but just a little harder to harder to get to the safety.
The only thing left on my list is to try and track down a Lyman 50 for my Ross M1910 Sporter. They're like hen's teeth to find!

She's a beauty. How much did it cost you?

Per usinflationcalculator, $12.00 of the late 1930s would be over $250.00 today.

$10.00 from Stoeger, 1939.

I was able to purchase the sight for $300. I knew that price was a “bargain “ so I snatched her up ASAP. I’m going to install this on my 1905 carbine. It looks like I will need to do a little wood work in the front of the bolt release. I also think that the bolt stop will need to be worked on as well. It currently doesn’t release enough to allow the bolt to be inserted. Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.
