A little Dutch rifle

Also posted to DGJ forums. The only "work" I did on this was to pull out my wallet. I don't know who did the work nor when but someone put a lot of effort into this. The stock was originally a military one. You can see the cheekpiece was added as it does not have the same 'tiger striping' as the butt. The pistol grip was added and, in hand, one can barely make out a seam in the checkering. The finger grooves were also filled in and checkered but I haven't been able to find a seam in either one.

Probably the most unusual feature is the magazine. The clip release lever in the trigger guard was changed to a 'bottom metal release' and the loaded en bloc clips are loaded in from the bottom. It's a little clumsy but the work is first rate.

What calibre?
kuduae or Lancaster will be able to add a lot more info to your piece

never see it before, very interesting solution

it looks like pre war by all means but problem ist the dutch M 95 rifles dont became surplus before 1945

will see if you find any marks hidden under the stock. the peep sight looks british made the double set trigger german/austrian. probably the most unusual dutch mannlicher I ever see.

Indeed.

The Mannlicher Schoenauer Take Down Model has oft been referred to as a 'British Take Down' in print. Many were equipped (as is my M1910 TD) with a 'Special Folding Peep Sight' as well as spare front sight beads in a removable grip cap. Grand Dad bought it 'second hand' in Ceylon, 1931.

The magazine conversion was likely done to make the enbloc clip loading rifle compatible with a mounted scope that was never done. On my M88 V.C.Schilling scoped sporter, you have to detach the scope each time to insert a clip for using it as a repeater, A real p.i.t.a.!
