While getting ready for the whitetails, I went to the range this week and fired off my box of Interarms solid point target ammo.

When I got home, I checked, and sure enough, those were Berdan primers. I don't have enough experience reloading to try and convert them to Boxer primers, so I was considering turning a few of them into dummy rounds/snap caps, and wasn't really sure what to do with the rest. Before I went too far down the road of destruction, I thought it would make sense to check and see if anyone here had a need for Berdan 6.5X54mm brass.

Comments from the group?

Buy some American or Euro ammo that has boxer primers. Most of it is boxer primed.
Ditch the Berdan primed cases - it was fun shooting them, their life is over. imho

That's the direction in which I am leaning... but wanted to make them available to the group, first.

I would be concerned that the berdan primed ammo might have had corrosive primers.

A cleaning regime would be required - with water as well as solvents.

Done and done.

And my wife thought I'd bought that sonic cleaner for her jewelry!

Simple enough to reload Berdan cases if you get the correct size Berdan primers and they are available, certainly here in NZ anyway. I reload Kynoch Berdan cases for my 404 because like most larger NE cartridges the cases are expensive and harder to get. I agree with Daryl that for cheaper and easier to source cartridge cases it is better to go Boxer and ditch the Berdan.
