6.5x54MS factory ammo available in Australia
      #337964 - 15/02/20 04:41 PM

Have just place a special order for PPU 6.5x54MS factory ammo to come to Australia.
This is a big order so price is expected to be good.
I will have surplus so will sell at cost .
Good ammo with good brass for re use.
Cheers,
Adam

Any other 6.5x54 M-S owners interested?

It will probably be 156 gr RN SP and the price quite good.

I will probably get 200 to 300.

Ozhunter is bringing in 2000 or so for himself and selling off the excess at cost.

As I only have a Greek Steyr sporterised into a Stutzen, it will get it shooting! Until I reload for it. The brass will then be very useful.

INFO: PPU 6.5x54 MS
This below copied from one of my posts last Fall in the Mannlicher section is my experience with the PPU ammo, for your interest and amusement.
Minor feed issues aside I find the ammo to be nicely accurate and consistent.

.......just fired the factory load Privi Partizan 6.5x54 156 grain (sort of) round nose for a velocity baseline. 32 degrees F, but ammo and rifle were "room temperature".
5 shots:
1) 2275
2) 2330
3) 2306
4) 2327
5) 2321

Factory advertised muzzle velocity is 2395'/sec. The Jeffery has a 26" barrel & shot #1 was out of a clean barrel.

As noted elsewhere, the PPU bullets are loaded a little shorter than standard spec and the soft nose tips are roundnose but a flat tip. This results in problematic feeding from my 1903 Jeffery Mannlicher Schonauer magazine. Reloads with the Hornady 160 grain roundnose loaded to traditional 3.06” length feed fine, as they do in my Wm. Evans 1893 Steyr .256 Mannlicher (6.5x53R) loaded to 3.05”.

Irrespective of that, the PPU loaded ammo is cheaper than Norma unloaded brass. After using the ammo, can use the brass for reloading.

I have some of this in 9.3x62 as well as 6.5x55. Seems like decent brass.

Yes I found it good for reloading. I picked up nearly a thousand loaded for my 9.3x62 about ten years ago at a very very good price. Never been disappointed either for my 7x57, 8x57, .308, 6.5x55 etc. if I could just find some in 9.5x57 I would be a happy camper

Sorry, this is a special import order by Adam himself of the 6.5x54 MS ammo. At least 2000 rounds, so he should have some left for others to order. Get onto it if you are interested.

6.5x54MS ammo - need to get it from Sydney to SA? [Re: NitroX]
      #354637 - 26/06/21 01:59 AM

The ammo is now with a gunshop in Sudney. Who may not be willing to send to South Aust, OR difficult to send? Any ideas?

How many boxes did you or are you intending to buy because once you have over a certain amount it can be sent with a courier, It's not cheap but it can be done. Otherwise the only way is if someone is driving to SA or at least half way. I have done that with a dealer once with some ammo. He was going to meet a friend about half way and I met him there as I was going that way anyway. Unfortunately it's not easy anymore.

....isn't going through a shop and then a courier defeating the purpose of cheap ammo?

I think the excess went to a Sydney gunshop. I had an order in for 200 to 300.

$50+ per 20 now. But still cheaper than most unloaded brass. If it could be got here.

At Safari Arms now. I have been looking to see what else they have in stock, to see if a larger shipment might be possible. They seem to carry bugger all unusual ammo. Not much available anywhere.

What happened to "put your name in for some cheap ammo" if its all gone to a shop?

Did you order any?

Oz thought it wasn't possible to freight it anywhere? Might be right? And with the covid-2019 bs , who knows when it can be picked up?

Like I said yesterday you can have it freighted but it is expensive because it has to be a special courier licensed to handle explosives which is why you pay more and which is why it is only worthwhile if you are buying a larger quantity.

6.5x54 mm Mannlicher-Schoenauer Privi Partisan - PPU 156 gr SP RN ammo

I am going to try to put together a bulk shipment to SA.

And anyone else who wants to have me hold pre-paid ammo until picked up.

Looking for someone Sydney based or nearby to Sydney, or between Sydney and Adelaide, who can personally pick up for me, 200 to 300 cartridges and hold for me, until the "never-never" when I or someone else can pick them up for me?

I will reimburse of course after pickup. Or just before. Maybe pre-purchase from the shop? Adam might be able to do it, I'll double check. Anyone else?

And AFTER all the border closures and lockdowns, anyone driving to SA? Or closer than Sydney?

Otherwise I might do an "ammo run" myself. Never driven to Sydney before, always flown. Gee ammo and powder will be gettign expensive! Might find some others needing ammo picked up. I do want some more black powder, but that is usually Melbourne.
