Looks like a post WW1 Austrian sporter ,I have a Terni model 91/41 at the stock makers as we write ,he's due to start work on it next month. I'd love to find a double trigger set for it but I'd say they are unobtainium .It's interesting that it is a 7x57 ,most are in the original calibre or have been reamed to the 6.5x54MS due to the magazine set up.Very nice Lancaster.

maybe the 6,5 mm barrel was shot out that they rebore this to 7 mm. if you like I can bid on it for you, dont think it will go much over 200 euro.

Very kind of you but the cost of getting it to Australia would be prohibitive. However the triggers and barrel would be nice, How much do you think it would cost to dismantle it ? sending over parts is not expensive and as long as I have the right paper work ..easy .

HeHe, It could be done but as you say it's not the nice way to do it . Over here Carcano rifles are not worth much ,if you look around they can be had in poor condition for $60 and up .Sending a complete rifle is a pain and expensive, so to send the parts less the receiver to be reassembled on another receiver would work. I already have 2 Carcano's ,one is as issued ,the other I bought already cut up ,this is the one at the stock makers now ,I will post pictures when I have some, it should look good in an English style stock.

It will look a bit like this when it's finished

sold for 94,50 euro!

wish you luck for your project, will you rechamber for the 6,5x54MS? I can see the face of pig No. 6, absolutely knowing it that a Mannlicher Schönauer will only hold 5 rounds.
whats with the metal, sounds like wartime finish?
the stupids will only see a cheap old milsurp rifle but we see the beginning of a real good sporter. its all in your head ... or there is nothing

94 Euro, the triggers would be worth that on their own. With mine I will leave it as a 6.5x52 ,the difference between that and the 6.5x54 MS is next to nothing to look at, their performance is pretty much identical. The main reason not to change it is that I have a couple of hundred new cases for the Carcano ,I have used some to fire form to the MS chamber quite successfully although I'll probably never have to trim them ,they end up about a millimetre short.

When I bought the cut down Carcano ,I bought it to steal the barrel for my Greek MS ,I paid about $70.00 for it.When I took it to the range to test the barrel for accuracy it surprised me ,everything I had ever been told about the Carcano had been negative ,this rifle shot perfectly ,it was also a very nice rifle to shoot ,comfortable and not to much noise. To cut the story short I couldn't break it up,it was like the lost puppy that turns up at your door. So, now it's at the stock makers and the Greek is at the barrel makers everybody's happy except my bank account.
