Driven hunt in Germany
      #256594 - 11/11/14 09:27 PM

As every autumn I have been to Germany on a driven hunt. This one is on a big estate and we hunt in the morning in the forest and then in the afternoon at the Fields. There are some small forest islands on the Field where there could be plenty of animals. The game that are allowed are Red deer, Fallow deer, Roedeer, Wildboar, Fox. It wasnīt as good result as normal, with 30-35 hunters 38 animals where shot. They say it could be because it has not been any Cold this year??? Heard from some that it has been not good this autumn. Maybe some of the Germans on the Forum has a explaination. I did shoot 5 animals, so I was lucky. But only half of the people did see an animal and maybe only one third did shoot.

In my opinion itīs always very good food in Germany. We did drink a lot of beer. Comparing to Sweden itīs half the price staying at a hotel of good standard and drink and eat. A Schnitzel is never wrong!! Always very nice People.

I am used to the forest of the north with Pine and Spruce, dark forests, so for me to come to this Beech forests is great.

I had one of my dogs With me and she hunted very well. A Deutsche Bracke, she did run on saturday 30 km, barking all the time. I have a Garmin GPS on her so I can follow her. The big dicussions in the evenings were about Wolves. They now got them in Germany and thinks itīs a huge problem.

I was thinking that trailer looked like a mibile "chuckwagon"!

What happened to the traditional cast iron pot on the camp fire?!

No doubt about it, I prefer the traditional camp fire, cast iron pot, to a modern mobile hot dog wagon.

Talking about "hot dogs", Essy is looking good.

Can you tell me more about Kalle's building behind? Is it a shed? Or a mixture house and shed?

I am always on the look out for good buildings to copy for my mancave/trophy room etc one day. Some time in the distant future ....

Itīs a mixture. To the left with the green sliding door he has a trophyroom and dinnerroom for this hunting party. Itīs a wall and a little door built behind. Nothing fancy, old and new trophies on the walls, I think itīs an old garage that is rebuilt. In the middle he has a workshop for the farm. He lives in the low building to the right. There is no Castle or big house belonging to the estate. This is former east Germany, and when he came back after the reunion they had to buy this estate. I think it belonged to the Family before the war, but I am not sure?? I havenīt asked. /Staffan
