Hunting high-speed boar

Tim Pilbeam gets to go on one of the great driven hunts of his life. It’s like Disney has opened the door to the animal park, as deer and boar bound in front of him. He is in Sweden as a guest of gunsight company Aimpoint, and he gets to use their latest kit to shoot.

Here are the hunt hosts:

Aimpoint AB sights
3M PELTOR hearing protection
Haenel Rifles Haenel Jagd https://www.cg-haenel.de/en/hunting/
Norma ammunition https://www.norma-ammunition.com/en-gb
Garmin https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/

There are some roe deer which they are not hunting. Mainly fallow does and fawns. The fawns were being shot as well. The quotas are for whole of herd management. Not maximising trophy males.

Good to see the hunters hunting by the town or smaller highway. Right on the fence. The English guy says he would get reported to police if he did it in the UK by some concerned citizen ... Ridiculous ... They need to do it more in the UK then. Get the public used to see guns used in a sporting manner being used legitimately. I remember walking down the road a kilometre back to the house carrying my rifle in Denmark. Or shooting hear the roads there and elsewhere. And of course I have shot on my farm many times near the road. Sometimes people might look. Never had the cops arrive. As they bloody well shouldn't. Urban types need to be educated on legal firearms and their correct place in society.

The hard bit on these Swedish hunts would be shooting a male boar and not a female. A fine for a female! Big proper fine for shooting a dog. E5000 I think? Not enough imo.

No moose in the video.

Shared these on Farcebook. One guy criticised calling boars, boars. Said they should know a boar is a male pig only.

Another criticised shooting running animals. During animal drives ...

Reasonable running shooting, especially once the English guy gets some shooting going. I think he does shoot more shots than average per animal. Use of aimpoint red dot sights.

And the now obligatory straight pull bolt action rifles. I know I have had to claimed to me that our favourite Mauser and Mannlicher bolt actions are too slow. Double rifles allow only two shots. Presumably blasers magazines are limited too imo. These newer straight pull designs with larger box magazines seem much better designs than the Blaser.
