go to your local saddle guy instead and get him to make you something, usally much cheaper and allways a lot better quality.

That is a good idea. Plus I prefer seeing things like leather goods in person. I have found that the gunshows, like ones in Montana (I don't know which part of Canada you are in) have some excellent belts made for cartridges. Some of the cowboy stuff I have seen was also superb quality and they make them for the 45-70 which I would guess might be large enough for a 470.

How many catridges do you want to carry on your 470 "ammo belt" and, is this a belt you'd wear on your waist?

i make the stuff myself but usually carry 6 on the beltstrap, i will see if i can get a pic through the machinery.
but look through the net find a design you like, and have your leather guy copy it for you.

Ha. Peter I saw that you are from Denmark, I was referring to "Northern Double" when I wrote "Canada".

BTW--- I like to carry six rounds too, Peter. I use a cartridge carrier that attaches to a belt. But I am always looking for a good leather belt and/or nicer catridge carriers. Right now I'm seeking a 2 and 1/2 inch wide and high quality, thick, brown leather belt.

In leather cartridge carriers I seek loops that can hold big 50-90 brass and also 12 gauge brass shells.

Jeff's Outfitters. Conecticut Shotgun Manufacturers.
Both carry nice belts and wallets for the .470.

www.jeffsoutfitters.com

I have items from both. Both give good service and the quality is good.

there are several available as well

murraycustomleather.com is one avaiable--once broken in they work awesome

I also picked up a canvas cull belt--which I have used when I will be hiking, trailing all day.

I personaley don’t like a belt but much perfure the wallet desine. The 10 round one shown on Jef’s Outfitters is good but the botom row needs to come out the botom not the top. The reaason for this is eases of removal. The top row of cartriges is held in place by the belt but the botom row is hanging down with no support. Trying to get cartriges out with one hand can be a problem. When they come out down you can just pull straight down to get them out easiley and quickley. I sujest the ones that Galazan sells they can be orderd caliber specific that hold 5 you can by 2 then after walking all day you can leave one in camp as you realize you don’t need to carey the extra weight.
