Fore ends and regulation

You hear of fore ends on single shots and lever actions giving problems with accuracy etc ,but I haven't ever read anything about them on doubles ,I had my fore end on mine tightened up, as it was too loose imo ,and now its stringing shots, in retrospect if I knew that was a possibility I would have left it alone ,now in a quandary as what to do with it ?any ideas from anyone who has had problems like this ?
