Good Luck Archery Sign....
      #139069 - 16/07/09 12:13 PM

Was practicing in my yard Monday night getting ready for archery season...was shooting at 50 and 60 yards..walked up to the target and found a very pleasant surprise...got myself a old fashion robin hood ---considered it a good omen for the upcoming archery season..

Good stuff.

Are you going to frame it with a picture underneath ?

No--my son actually did that with the first one I ever got. He had it framed and gave it to me for a Christmas present...after that one I am slowly accumulating them in my reloading room..

Think the carbon arrows have assisted in this happening..I shot wood arrows and then alumuminum for years..never happened..switched to these type and now have gotten 6 in the last 5 years. At least that is my theory.. I also switched from shooting with fingers to a release a few years back along with a new bow..so maybe the combination ....

Thx

Ripp

I would have thought the carbon would have shattered.

Anyway, if it's carbon and started to fracture,
you don;t really want it where fibre might spread
around, the stuff is deadly.

No--none have shattered to this point...

Thanks for the info

'Robinhoods' are a real pain (when shooting compounds) - wrecks 2 arrows & happens too often - the one that got holed is destroyed and the one that's inside. No one I know of takes them apart.

I've never shot carbons, though, but you're probably right, with the big gaping hole underneath the nock, they'd be pretty easy. Woods merely split off the side and with aluminums, the point underneath the nock tends to deflect non-absolutely perfect hits to the side, destroying only the nock.

By dangerous, Carbon fibre breaks into very small pieces
and is extremely hard to see so if it gets stuck in an eye,
throat, finger, skin etc, it's damn hard to find to take out.

That's why I said it was deadly.

Ripp, I think you'll be safe from a shattering carbon arrow at 50 yards... Congrats! I remember my first Robin Hood - it's now proudly hanging on the wall in my office. I just got my archery tag in the mail last week. Our season starts in the middle of August. I'll be hunting mulies and elk and then on September 16th I'm off to Africa for my first plains game hunt - with a gun... I'll do Africa with my bow another time!

Special archery tags? We only need buy a hunting licence & tags and hunt with whatever we choose - rifle, bow or spear.

Years ago, I wanted to hunt bear with a spear and a broadsword! Alas, not that young any more.
