The Story of The Remington 870

This year, the Remington 870 turns 70. Here’s where this stand-by pump-gun came from and why it’s become the best-selling shotgun of all time

Thanks for posting Ripp. The 870, to me, epitomizes the pump action shotgun. Yes there are better made ones but the 870 still does it all. If birding or after rabbits I prefer a SxS but after pigs or in the thick stuff a short barreled 870 is my choice, when I could have them.

Our 20" 870's pump guns with mag. tube extension holding 7, were terrific guns.
6 sils in 2 seconds with buckshot. My riot "boys" were a little slower, but still likely inside 4 seconds.
The token women in the squad did not do well with the 870's & quit the squad. Just as well.
What a GUN!

It was kinda funny - we(Don and I) were ordered to ask the female correctional officers if they wanted to join the squad. 2 did but didn't last long - one day at the range was it for them. One was a little barbie doll, the other not so much - a diesel burner, but too soft for a lot of shooting (or scrapping)not quite decisive enough with a baton. Ya gotta mean it.LOL
