Anyone have one of these little screamers? It might be a painful alternative to reboring my 375 H&H to 470 Capstick.

Little???? Very close to 10,000 FT-lbs, you sure you need that kind of shoulder manipulation Chuck? Of course you do, screw that new tube on and hang on!

If your looking at upgrading on the Capstick ... I'd rather the 470Mbogo. If using a standard length action ... then the 470AR. But you wont get 4+1 (maybe 5+1) which is a possibility in the CZ using the H&H based case.
Cheers...
Con

I plan to stay with the 470 Capstick Con. I was just wondering if anyone was that masochistic (yeah maybe I was seriously thinking it over, it is kinda rare ... lol). The 470 Mbogo is a real nice cartridge, and a real consideration. Issues are more recoil in a 9.5 lb gun (without scope or sling), how many can I fit into the magazine, correctly head stamped brass, reloading dies are available I guess, typical wildcat issues. Actually RCBS makes 3 die sets for the 475 A&M believe it or not.

I thought about getting one of these made about 15 years ago. Today there are many better options. The 600 overkill has more power, less pressure and can be made in a reasonable weight.Any of the larger AHR cartridges and several 550 cartridges on this forum would make a safer and better choice.

Bigdog,

You're someone who owns a number of fine guns. DO tell me, when did logic ever come into this hobby that brings all of us together over here?

A truer statement never said. I love it when someone gets a new gun project started up. Its always interesting to watch the progress and learn new stuff. As with most on this forum, guns are not just a hobby, but a true passion of mine. Like I have said before, need aint got nothing to to with it. I still think the 475 A&M is an interesting choice.

It is kind of intriguing, and if I ever want to rebarrel to 495 or 500 A-Square, the bolt face, magazine and feed rail work is pretty much done ... I could always load it down to shooting a 500g bullet at 2400 fps ...

Decided to rebore to 470 Capstick, setting up time with Clearwater. I'm going to ask for a bit extra freebore so I can seat my bullets out a bit further to take advantage of the longer magazine in my CZ 550.

Sorry for all of the agonizing and questions ... I'll post pics when it's done and I get it on the range.

Chuck
