This photos were all taken with a trail camera that we moved around on one of our concessions.

Are thses photos all from a stationery game camera, or are they taken by a human?

Mr Spots is coming to investigate from the looks of it.

These game cameras are sure getting a work out, and really show what is out there, but may never be seen.

I like the cameras which are somehow connected to the net, and can be viewed to see what say is at a waterhole in real time.

John, It is a stationary camera that we moved around on the farm. We have set it up at the watering holes. We were very surprised with some of the photos. We knew all along that there are leopards on the property, we keep on getting their tracks and sometimes carcasses. There are brown hayena as well but we must still get a shot of them.

Great photos, thanks for posting. Especially like that warthog, what a ripper.

As someone who wants to hunt over there in the next few years, just wondering what the main hunting style you employ is? Is it mostly sitting in blinds over points like those photographed, or walked up in the bush after spotting from vehicle? Would appreciate some info.

Hi blacks,
We do not hunt at waterholes or out of blinds with rifles, we do however allow it with bows. We do sometimes use a vehicle to spot animals or get to the area where we will be hunting. We hunt on foot and stalk the animals. It is important for us to maintain a very high standard in ethical hunting. If you want more info you are welcome to mail me or pm me.

Thanks for that info Jaco, exactly my style as well. Just a bit paranoid about Africa, as after doing much research, it seems the definition of 'hunting' varies a lot!

Black,

My recent hunt in SA on a 10,000 acre farm was 100% fair chase. We took a jeep into the bush from whence we stalked on foot. Typical the PH and I made a large circle and returned to the jeep.

If we spotted game, then the stalked based on wind. The first three days was taking game of opportunity, by that I mean; I went after a large Kudu, Gemsbok or Eland. With my Eland in the bag on day three I decided only to take a bull Wildebeest with my double rifle.

The wildebeest can run 50 mph so if they spook, it's all over. You go back to the jeep and drive to where you think they ran and start over. I finally had my break on the final day because it was windy and we could get down wind. We snuck up on one and I got him at 30 yards with my double.

I feel that if you want to hunt on foot in the thorns and scrub, walk for miles, go days without a shot - then you can get that in RSA with a good outfitter.

Bonanza, you are quit right about BWB. What is interesting about BWB is that they quite often run in a circle. If you stay put and have the patience you will very often get a shot at them. Unfortuneately they do not always do that.
