Zim Buffalo Hunt
      #236143 - 27/09/13 01:32 PM

Photos of trophy animals taken on our recently completed hunt with Richard Cooke Safaris. A good hard hunt for daggaboys in the thick stuff and one of the best experiences of my life. Will hopefully do a full report next week.

My buffalo taken on the seventh day. I certainly felt it was earn t. Good honest daggaboy taken with Kreigoff .500

Patos taken on the eighth day with model 70 .375 H&H. Pictured with Richard Cooke

My nice Impala not taken with this ak47

Patos zebra and 17 inch bushbuck

My 53 1/2 inch Kudu taken on the morning of the last day, isn't that how it is supposed to happen. Nice deep curls

Great photos and great job! Now please tell us the story!

Fantastic Bushbuck and beautiful curls on that Kudu. I think I recognize Silas the tracker and Israel the driver.

And those are certainly some old grey faces on those dagga boys!

You are correct that is Silas and Israel. I will get around to the story when this pile of papers on my desk has decreased.

Some good photo and some very nice trophies there. Hard bossed buffalo, 17" Bushbuck, 53" Kudu, all good.

Fpr a moment I thought Pato had a plastic stocked .375 !!! But now realise it is his sling in front.

Well done boys.
Really nice animals and it looks just as hot over there as it is at home hey ?.

Pity you two were away when I was up there last week as it would have been good to catch up.

Pato...I will give you a ring in the morning.

Cheers Neale.

Congratulations Clayton
Your buffs are nice with plenty of character.
The zebra is in wonderful condition, nice rug without scars.
Wonderful bushbuck, I hope that you’ll have it shoulder mounted?
The impala seems not that much peppered with the AK47?
Beautiful kudu, with splendid regular curves. You have got the size and the shape together.
IMHO a fantastic safari, hard to beat it. I can stand to read your full report.

By the by, are You hunting clad in blue? I remember that some Selous scouts during the Zimbabwe war were clad in blue camo as most of the black people were supposed not to discern blue?

Yes one has to be happy with that bushbuck. 17" is huge.

Pato, are you going to shoulder mount it or full mount it? The only animal I have a full mount for so far is my chobe bushbuck as the hide is so nice.

I think that looked like a great hunt, some suspense at the end with a last day kudu and a 7th buffalo ... was it a seven day safari or longer? If so, that would have been a good day.

What was the concession? Looking forward to the report, and hopefully some comments on the concession and how it is going. Always good to hear current data on Zim concessions and how they are faring or not.

I like Pato's zebra too. Very clean distinct stripes. No shadow striping.

Hi Clayton
My English being poor, I believed that the whole bag was yours.
Nonetheless, that is an incredible performance, and I am sure that it'll be an awesome memory.
I didn't connect with "pato" (frenchmen aren't supposed to be smart , that seems to be a nickname for Patrick. But, we Europeans have to deal with truckload of languages and so far Pato means duck in Spanish.
Congratulations for sure

Being in Texas that much I understand.

What I don't understand is "Katherine Camo." What is Katherine Camo?

And I thought blue was bad because it supposedly attracts flies.

That blue outfit is all Pato ever wears. I would say there is a chance he wears it to bed. I couldn't comment on the flies being attracted but I have never seen him hunt in anything else. Now the outfit is becoming known as Katherine camo. Please note there is only one man who wears it and that is not me. Larcher, pato meaning duck is quite good. I will remember that but the blue duck is certainly not me.

Thanks, Pato took the second buffalo, bush buck and zebra. Mine are the first buff, kudu and impala. If you look at the boss on the second buff, which was taken by Pato, there is a big chunk of boss broken away which was interesting. When I booked the hunt I told Richard I only wanted an old buffalo, which it turned out is what he hunts for anyway. Both animals were old daggaboys. Mine was with one other bull and Patos was in a mob of 20 odd bulls which Richard said was the largest mob of bulls he had seen.
