its hard to find informations about big game in north africa today. one offroad enthusiast told me that he had seen only wild boars on his trips there. found this pic here in net in group showing the fighting for Syrte in Libya in september 2011. I dont know the story about the gazelle but it seems that there is more than I expect

Interesting. Seems to have more than one bullet hole in it.

Let's hope the new Gov't sort out logistics pretty quickly
or the rest of the population might be gone.

I gather from someone who was in Tripoli for 4 weeks that things were pretty grim food wise.

I would have gutted that thing prior to hanging in in front of a hot radiator in the African sun.

You are correct, in a country at war there are no game laws or game enforcers. Anything with protein gets eaten.

You know, I bet they had plenty of guns but no knives !!!
and hence why it wasn't gutted !!!

Which country was it that wiped out all the game herds during a civil war. Was it the Congo ?

Gazelle really intrigue me and I too hope Libya opens up to sustainable hunting.

What species is it?

From what I have seen in Africa, many of the guys don't seem to worry too much about gutting an animal quickly, even if the entire animal is getting quite putrid.

Ah, the wonderful "technical"!

It looks to me as though a knife was present, as it seems to have had its throat cut in accordance with Islamic culture.

Looks like a Saharan species similar to a Tommy Gazelle?
