One glaring omission is how the action fastens to the stock. There is no front recoil lug like you would find on a Model 70 or 700 per se. Instead, there is a round protrusion that fits into a hollow piece of sheet metal fastened onto the stock by 4 little screws. I own one in .375 H&H. While the gun feeds better than anything else in my arsenal and it shoots okay. I don't trust the wacky hold down on the action and I would have never have purchased it had I have known that there was no big recoil lug I could glass bed for support.

These little screws go into the wood. If the wood splits you are buggered.

Hello Guys

I have read a number of reviews lately and have been disapointed in the quality of them, things like floating bolt heads overlooked etc.

Anyhow Albertan may I ask a favour, I would like to know what the barrel profile of the Arctos is, would you be able to measure yours ??

Thanks

Foster

Different subject--but I picked up a Finnlight for a lookover in 25-06 the other day...really nice feeling rifle..my only complaint would be is it only had a 22" barrel on it versus a 24"..

Reports I read are favorable per what I have found talking to others and reading..

If I did not get my left hand .284 Winchester Dakota 76, I was going to get a LH Sako with fixed sights in 30-06.

The muzzle of my 24 inch barrelled Sako 85 is .633 inches. On the light side of a sporter weight barrel. It shoots okay and is a good carrying weight at slightly under 9 pounds with a sling and the magazine full. Slightly less that 8.5 pounds empty with a sling attached.

The quick detachable rings were 500 dollars. They work well enough. Another consideration.
