BRNO ZKK 600 7x57

Hello ,Just aquired a Brno ZKK 600 rifle in 7x57.It has the old pop up peep in the rear bridge.Unfortunately the original stock is broken and I need a new one .It is the standard low comb classic style Brno zkk 600 stock.If anyone has one for sale or knows where I can obtain one I would be greatly apprieciative.Thank You!(Even a 95% inletted stock blank would do )Note I am in the USA presently

If you have no further use for it, I would like to have the old broken stock to use as a pattern for the ZKK600 rifle I am building in .425 Westley Richards. I presume it can be glued back together to serve as a basis for a duplicator. Let me know what you would be willing to part with it for. If, alternatively, you decide to use it for the same purpose, I would like the opportunity to have a blank turned from it at the same time.

It is useable but I am trying to restore this rifle to 100% it has a "Selous repair" leather wrapping around a split grip.

May I suggest Deutsche that you send the stock to xausa so he can make a pattern, he can send it back and maybe get a 2nd copy made for you. There would be a gunsmith who could fit it to your rifle.

Well I want to use the rifle with the repaired stock until I can find a replacement.Sending it out for duplication could be a while.I would rather find a take off replacement or an inletted blank.The best case scenario would be a take off of course

Have you checked the Boyds web site. They may have a drop in laminated stock. Good prices too. If Boyds do make one then it would do you untill you can get an original or have your original copied. Just a thought.

I called CZ and they said a CZ stock would fit.Ordered a LUX stock for $150 right off the CZ website and it dropped right in.Excellent English walnut.Will reconfigure the the stock to the original 600 style and of course rechecker. Ordered the Lux as it has more drop than the American series .Anybody wants a replacement stock for their ZKK 600 rifle I believe this is the way to go.Also equivelant stock 95% inletted blanks were going for more than this.

Here is the finished rifle.I reshaped and recheckered a CZ Lux stock to original ZKK specifications.I did not put barrel screw in as there was no provision in the CZ stock for one ,although I may later.Set trigger was turned all the way in to deactivate and the 7x57 has a beautiful 2 stage trigger that breaks at a crisp 3 lbs.LOP is 14"Rifle groups under 1" at 200m with RWS ammo

Well done - While I never shot mine at 200 meters on target, at 100meters, it was a consistant sub 1/2" rifle using 160gr. TSX at 2,700fps - generally cloverleafs for 3 shto groups.
The BRNO's are very accurate rifles - as was my .375 and .358 Norma Mag. - all sub 1/2" rifles.

D/V One that I have shot in 7X57 was extremely accurate, similar to yours. Yep I still can not convince the blokwe to part with it.

That is a nice looking rifle. You have done well with the stock work.

Here is the finished 7x57. I put on a mint ZF4 Zeiss Jena scope. Shot Hornady interlock 154 reloads with 48.0 grains of H4350 at 2,800 fps. Accuracy excellent.Also chronographed the hot Lapua 173 factory ammo at 2,650 fps a stiff recoiling load but accurate.The stock was finished with a orange shellac formula I learned from an old violin maker.I like to use this formula on lighter European wood.I think Corbett,Hunter and Bell would approve.

Wonderful job.
I just got a Brno 600 in .270 - same rifle as you have above. I got it with the idea of rebarreling it to 7x57mm at some stage, but I have slowed down on that since it shoots fine and the bore is excellent...
You have done a very good job of reworking that CZ stock to look like the Brno original.

Do you care to share your stock finish recipe?

Carlsen, Thank you for your kind words.In retrospect I should have bought the CZ full stock version of the stock;I would not have had to cut away so much wood as I did the lux ,but it came out well.Actually the only difference between the original and this stock is no barrel screw in the new stock and the new stock retains the slight CZ palm swell(for my size 10 hands) and slightly thicker dimensions.As far as revealing the finish ;due to a promise I cannnot ,but I have seen similar finishes on violin makers sites.I also had a ZKK600 .270 years ago; a magnificently accurate rifle.The area of the world I was living in however had no scope mounts available so reluctantly I traded the rifle.

I recently shot a few groups of Sellier and Belliot 173 grain "cutted edge" H mantle bullets at 200 yards.One ragged hole .Thought it was a fluke so I did it again with same results.Incredible factory loading and in this rifle the most accurate.They chronoed 2,507 in the ZKK 600.

Thats a great velocity for the 173 grain load! And fantastic accuracy.
I took my .270 (the same as yours) and finally put a scope on it and shot it with a couple of reloads. I ahev already shot it a bit with open sights and got two inch groups with it, and shot a good fallow buck with it last month - the very first time I took it hunting too. You have to be happy when you get a rifle that already knows how to hunt.
So I put a scope on it and sighted it in and then got exactly one inch groups for everytihng at 100 yards.
what am I suppossed to do now? it was going to be a donor rifle for a 7x57. I am embarrassed to tell you how cheaply I bought it although there is not a thing wrong with it. Oh well, I just suppose I will have to find another 7x57mm somewhere.
I think the scope is going to come off again though, the Brno fits me so well for open sights.

Thanks to all for your kind words . Restoration of a classic rifle is always a joy not only to the owner but to all . Hopefully this thread can help the next person who undertakes a similar endeavor . Information supplied among ourselves is really all we have out there for these projects . My next project that I will post shortly is a mint 1917 JP Sauer Mauser 6.5 x55 project . Thanks again to all for your kind words!
