NEED RIFLE STOCK ADVISE!!!
      #73850 - 14/03/07 11:13 PM

I have a full length mannlicher stock on a custom Mauser conversion that needs checkering and finishing.

Many people do a machine cut and that may be satisfactory. This is a working rifle but has some sentimental value as well.Any preferences out there for checkering/stockwork??

Thanks to all for any suggestions beforehand!!

I don't checker and don't really under stand what you are asking. Do you mean if a powered tool is used it is somehow inferior to a push/pull tool. from the few experiences iv'e had trying each method it required considerably more skill to use the powered handpiece. That's just my opinion though. It makes no difference to me which method is used.To me a good job is obvious by the border chosen and the overruns and the diamonds themselves.I prefer mullered borders and not TOO fine lines per inch. Checkering is a personal embellisment that doesn't appeal to everyone.
