Monster 6.5m killer croc shot

THIS monster 6.5m croc had to be killed by locals in a remote Territory Aborigine community because it was killing their cattle.

Jeida Francis, 23, said the croc was caught in Manangoora, an outstation 56km east of Borroloola in the mid nineties.

"It was massive. There were three huge ones out there. One of them is still out there at the moment.

"It is pretty well fed," he said of the dead saltie.

"It took two LandCruisers to pull it out. They have one croc that is still out there. He should be getting to this size by now."

The photo was taken in the community in 1997. But it appeared on news websites two years ago claiming to be from Albert River, near Burketown in Queensland. See the Cairns croc story here

Mr Francis said his younger cousin Shaye - who was the little girl in the picture - put the photo on her Facebook page two years ago; that photo had been ripped from the page and circulated on various emails.

Get out of that water!

Mr Francis said he spent his childhood growing up with the predators.

"We used to get dugong bones to feed them, to keep them from feeding on our goats ... this one was getting too nasty and too close. It was attacking our cattle."
