Have been going through some of the photos I have taken on last years hunts and filing them away. Though I would post a few of the better ones. These are from a bow and rifle hunt. I like the photos of live animals.

Excellent mate,

I too like the photos of the live animals and scenic photos the best.

While the tophy glory hero shots round out the end of a hunt story or album of photos, good scenic, and wildlife photos are really the most enjoyable. IMO anyway. And make the stories or places come alive.

I like the photo of the buffs in the pool of water. One of the other photos with the bull with his nose in the bush, looks a bit stroppy. And the last photo, a nice trophy bull. Is this one still alive?

Yes. We had already got a trophy bull with the rifle and were after a management bull with the bow. He was to good to be management and he seemed to know it. Usually look for a bit more length in a trophy, at least for the first four days anyway.

You say too big to be a management, but not good enough for the first four days of a hunt? Is that what you are saying?

Looks good enough for me.

The crescent horned bull with his nose in the bush looks OK too, but perhaps a little thinner in the horns.

Like most beasts when you see a really good one, there is no doubt.

He would go 95. Has the shape everyone wants and good mass. See alot of that shape around that size but gets hard to find one that scores 100. The crescent horned one is a good bull maybe 98 due to the length and was heavier than he looks there. I passed the crescent one up looking for a sweeper. We got a heavy old 98 inch sweeper. Hard situation early on in the hunt. Get one 95 on the first day and everyone is disappointed when you see the hundred incher on the second.

Claydog,

Yep always harder to get a really good sweeper bull int he 100 neighbourhood or more. The crescent shaped ones are easier to find higher scoring.

In your neighbourhood when I hunted there I noticed there are less crescent shaped bulls than at the coast. At the coast more crescents, inland more sweepers. Just my impressions.

I do like the sweeper bulls a lot. I think they are a better trophy shape. Good to have one or several of each on the wall though.

BTW when I first hunted with Matt Graham at Gan Gan and put up some photos, I commented that such and such a bull was an immature one. He PMed me and told me off, that it was a good bull! The problem with really big ones, they jade one for the good representative bulls. ALL of your beasts above are standouts to some of those station country bulls though. Unless one is lucky and finds the right one. The pleasure is in the hunt though, not the inches on the wall ...

Great pictures. Seeing the flies swarming around the one buff adds the extra element of almost being there.
