Buffalo Hunting in the Top End
      #306948 - 28/10/17 07:42 PM

Been corresponding with Graham Williams, of Australian Buffalo Hunters. Graham is a member here, and should join in again! Lets encourage him to do so.

I hunted with Graham some twelve years ago with a friend and enjoyed the hunt very much. Hoping to drop in there again next year or the year after, if only to take some film and photos.

Ozhunter (Adam) another long time member and also 'moderator' here, has also been doing some guiding with Graham.

Some photos Graham sent to me:

Bulls squaring off.

A happy hunter.

A true bull bar. And a face familiar to us here on NE - "Ozhunter". Who does some guiding for Graham.

Relaxing in camp. And some buffalo biltong drying off.

Looks like a model shoot! And a very cool cut off hunting car.

The countryside there looks very familiar.

Three happy amigoes.

A good bag at the end of a hunt.

Cool!- I could consider a Scrub & some pigs - in the future - depends if the damn houses sell. lol.

Not walking so hot right now though. Looks a bit too hot as well! What's it like during your winter?

Scub bulls are often good fun. In my experience the most likely to be aggressive, more so than water buff or cape buff.

Top End pigs are good value as well. Hope next year to get into some.

Water buff hunting with Graham does take some walking. It isn't drive and shoot from the vehicle. But it all adds to a better and more fun and more real hunt.

June and July are "winter" so quite reasonable. Hoitter than Canada though! August is also good. September goes up a real notch. October is stinking hot. November is real hot and starts to get humid. December onwards is the Wet season. By April and May, lots of grass and lots of water holes. By June starting to dry out and game starts to concentrate again.

Good value hunting and I always enjoy it.
