Anyone else using Paradox gun for deer hunting?

A couple of months ago I took this blacktail deer with a 12 bore H&H Paradox gun. I have seen several photos of African and Australian game taken with Paradox guns but nothing from the USA. Is anyone else using a Paradox gun to hunt deer in the USA?

Are you using your own ammo or H&H factory loads??.

I have yet to kill a deer with my Evans super magnum paradox, but I did get this turkey. This years deer fell to my Holland farky in .300 h&h flanged.

I shot a nice hog last year with my 1913 H&H Paradox. Hog weighed about 175 lbs and ran 20 yards and fell over.

Daryl - I wouldn't call it much of a trophy. That's how most of the western blacktails are, big bodies and little antlers. A couple of years ago I took a 5x6 but the rack didn't even extend beyond the ears.

It would be nice to see a picture.

It seems like most of the US Paradox hunters are using their guns for hogs, birds, or foreign fare. That's part of why I started wondering about whether or not anyone is deer hunting with them.

The turkey was taken with 5 shot. I have a hard time getting all my rifles enough action. I am torn for next years choice. I have a stellar little Alex Henry .360 2&7/16" BPE best quality hammerless sidelock that really needs to claim a deer, as does the paradox. The Henry is much more fun to hunt as the recoil on the super magnum is brutal. We shot it next one day along side my friends .577 3" loaded with full boat loads and everyone present agreed that paradox gun recoiled more. This years buck.

I use my 12 bore for deer and small game. Mine is smooth bore on left and rifled on right. 2 1/2 and I use teh H&H paradox loads for mine. It is one of my favorite firearms. French made box lock from the 30's. Coin receiver. internal sling. pretty kewl.

What make is your french gun?
Is it choke rifled or rifled all lenght?

Grenadier - Any animal with an odd-ball (out of the ordinary as in scoped modern) gun is a trophy to me.

My paradox is stamped costo, though I think that was an importer or distributor. It dates to the 30's, The right barrel is fully rifled, the left is an open choke 12 bore. 2 1/2inch chambers. The two shot group was fired at 40 yards, the five shot group was at 25 yards. I have taken bushy tails with it but nothing bigger yet. I plan to hunt hogs, deer and other game with it. Mike,
Im very interested in knowing more about your gun.

Looks like the model Robust by Manufacture D´Armes et Cycles de Saint Etienne.
In that case the rifled barrel was called "Supra" it was intended for shot ant close range (10 meters) and ball up to 100 meters.
This is ap icture of the Ideal model but Robust (and Costo?) have it too.

IIRK Costo was the model sold in U.S.A..
Do you have pictures of the marks under the barrels?

So - is that 24,200 per square centimeter? That would mean higher allowable pressure per square inch, or would it mean less?

To convert to psi from kg/cm2, multiply kg/cm2 by 14.22

1100kg/cm2 x 14.22psi/(kg/cm2) = 15,642psi
