Just pre-war M-Sch. 1903 6.5 carbine
      10/01/12 05:24 AM

Hi there chaps. I am the owner of a fairly standard Mannlicher Schoenauer stutzen carbine chambered in 6.5 x 54, with set triggers. It works fine and is a pleasure to reload for.

I have two questions: Above the breech it is clearly engraved "Made in Germany" (in English). But as you all know they were made in Steyr, Austria. All I can assume is that it was made sometime after March 1938 when Austria 'volunteered' to become part of Germany. The serial number is 25,6xx which must make it one of the last pre-war rifles. Have any of you seen any similar 'German' made rifles like this? I know I could take it all apart to look at the proof marks to check the date, but I hate to disturb the Stutzen stock with its nose cap.

Secondly I cannot find a source of supply of 160 grain solid bullets for the calibre in England - any ideas??
