Christmas Raffle?
      #44033 - 15/12/05 09:45 AM

What do you guys think of a Christmas raffle on NE.com. Tickets could be 50-100 dollars with only a few hundred sold. Should be enough for a Searcy PH or maybe a deluxe Boxlock. If we keep it small the chances of winning should be pretty good. What do you guys think? That would be a very nice Christmas present for someone. I would definitely buy a ticket or two. Anyone else? The raffle could be held at SCI or DSC if that would be enough time. Maybe better yet money could be sent directly to Butch and he could hold the raffle to give everyone some peice of mind. I think it would be great.

If someone would like something other then a PH or other options they could pay the difference. Obviously there would have to be some rules but I will leave that up to the forum to decide.

There was a raffle for a Searcy on AR a few years ago. It took quite a bit of effort to put together, and the tickets seemed to sell best at $25 each or 5 for $100. It's pretty hard to sell raffle tickets at $100 ea.

If they were 100 each we would onlu need 100 people for a PH model. Hell I will definitely buy a few. A 1 in 33 chance is pretty damn good for 300 bucks. I sure wouldn't mind a 9500 dollar discount on my Sidelock. Maybe if we don't sell enough tickets the winner could get the amount of money available to put towards the purchase. I bet we could easily get 100 tickets together.

It would be easier to sell more tickets if they were 50 or less. It would be the same for people who want the better odds by buying more tickets and would also allow people who just want a chance to get in it. I'm sure we could get enough people if we did it with NE and AR. I'll do some checking and see if its feasible.

Anyone interested post here. If you could also post the number of say 50 dollar tickets you would most likely buy.

I'm in for the raffle.

I would back the other poster of tickets under $50
and like the suggestion of $25 per ticket or 5 for $100.

I'm in for $100.

If this gets going I'd be interested.

But does it have to be a Searcy?

Chasseur,

It doesn't have to be a searcy. Just using it as an example.

Yep, put me down for $100 worth as it is the only chance of a decent double for me for a while.

Chasseur:

We did this at AR in the spring of '03, and it was for a Searcy. I figured that if I won it, I could sell it and put the money towards a better gun.

I'd also be in for 100 clams. Would there be a way to pay with a credit card(Secure) online? If Butch would handle the money I'm sure it'd be easy for him. This way it'd be easy for everyone to call it in or go online to pay up.

I emailed Butch and it sounded like he didn't want to deal with a raffle and I don't blame him. Jeffe on AR said that when he did it he found the best way was only money orders and to set up a bank account just for the raffle. If we did set up a bank account we could link paypal to it but they charge 2.9% to process Credit Cards.

I'd be in for a ticket.

500grains suggestion of 5 tickets for $100 sounds like a good idea to me.
