Anyone here have, or see, any doubles in .333 Jeffery? I've seen only one, and that was about 8 years ago. Any pictures would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have one, a Jeffrey 333 double.

Is the .333 caliber popular in Australia? Here in the US, it's virtually unknown. Took me several years to find a custom barrel maker here that would make a .333 barrel for a custom magazine rifle project.

I reckon if I put my 333 Bolt Action and 333 Jeffrey Double
on the market they would be snapped up immediately.

I have multiple PM's here from people on the list of wanting them.

My last 333 J Bolt action was, in 2 seconds flat.

Yew, they are very popular.

But of course no one is going to make a 333 barrel
- why would you ?

..wilderbeast shot less than two weeks ago with a .333jeffery at 175m using ironsights only..

Here's mine. It has ejectors for both flanged and rimless cartridges. It's going to be off for a light wood refinish soon.

Nice double Redleg6! I have a real weakness for medium bore doubles. In the long run they have a lot more use in them than the dinosaur stompers.

It would be nice for you to do a photo spread of your rifle on the DR Photo & Archive forum.

And by the way, welcome to the forums. I haven't seen you post before this one.

Redleg, that's a nice rifle, thanks for posting pics. I didn't know they could be setup to handle rimless, as well as, flanged cartridges. How does it shoot?
Rigbymauser, nice magazine rifle. Is it a custom rifle? Do you shoot 300gr bullets in it? Thanks.

I shoot the Jeffery round for the simple reason of the long 300grain bullet..

Its a very balanced caliber/cartridge, with moderate recoil. It feeds easy from the magazine like a .300H&H. I have kept the velocity to 690 m/sec. I have had reloads doing 740 M/sec, but really no reason to. The ol` ballistics of the .333jeffery is what did the job, and gave it the repute back then.

I will have to defer answers to those questions for a while as I'm in Hawaii and my rifle is at my place in Missouri. Although I've owned the rifle for several years I haven't shot it much. I'm mainly a double shotgun guy. I did take an Ozarks hog with it and it seemed to shot where it was pointed and to do the job well. The recoil is moderate and about the same as my .30-06. I had a regulating box of .333 ammo from Stars and Stripes but wound up not following the instructions correctly and screwing up the task. I need to do that again next time I go home. The ejectors for rimless cartridges are in the little plastic bag in the cased photo above. I've never tried to change them out as I've had only flanged cartridges available so far. I haven't decided who to send it to for a light restoration........maybe JJ and ask him give me regulating loads while he's at it.

I'll take more photos next time I visit my rifle as well. Rigby the photos of your rifle an the other thread are stunning! Beautiful!

I'll throw my support for medium bore doubles. I know I'll never hunt the Big Five, so I settled on a fine, but very shootable and effective .35 Winchester H&H. It will fire a 250 grain projectile at 2340 fps, and a 200 grain at 2470 fps which will dispatch any game I'll every encounter. At 8 lbs, it's a real joy to carry as well.

I love that round. I used an old .35 WCF Winchester Model 1895 takedown on a spot & stalk black bear hunt a few years ago and ended up bagging a B&C "book" bear with it. Great big game cartridge...far more useful than Teddy's .405 WCF in original Winchesters, in my opinion.

I'm intrigued by the .333 Jeffery and the .318 WR, which look like outstanding moderate velocity medium bores. I've been eyeballing a modern (magazine) rifle in .318 WR for 9 months...if I didn't hate to reload so much I probably would have purchased it by now.

A short time back, there was a .333 Jeffery for sale on w.gunsinternational.com, that I decided to buy, but when I went to do just that, it had already sold. It was quite a plain jane, with stock that had no figure at all, but I have noticed that quite a few Jeffery double rifles are that way. I have no pictures of the one I nearly bought, and now wish that I had bought it, for it sat there not selling for a time.

I have a beautiful double for the 333 Jeffrey, the rib stamped with Made In Germany, Krupp steel barrels and no other markings indicating the manufacturer. My guess is that it is a Schuler. I want to sell it but I am in in India.

Many Jeffrey doubles were made by Leonard, who also made Hollis doubles. Clue is a 4 digit number on underside rib behind the sling swivel. Krupp barrels were standard. Bob
