I recently ran across an article re: the Siace double rifles. Does anyone know much about them? Opinions?

Smokinjoe,

Siace is a nice rifle for not much money. I know a fellow who has one in 45-70 and its really nice for the price. Its regulated very well and does not have much recoil. Dewings in Fla is getting a big batch this week.

Anyone have any idea of the price list for these two double rifles?

Bass Pro Shops has an Alaskan in .45-70, engraving on case color receiver for $7999 US. The .30-06 is the same price.

The price for the base Alaska model is $4800 from Dewings. Not sure about the price of the hammer version.

Forgot to add that you can send your wood to Dewings or directly to Siace:))) The Alaska can be had without the Germanic style cheekpiece. Mike at Dewings says they will work with you concerning the styling and amount of engraving (or lack of). Im getting ready to place an order for a 45-70 and plan on sending them a killer stick of lumber. Will be an inexpensive blaster. A friend of mine has one in 45-70 and it really shoots accurately. Well reglated and low recoil.

Smokinjoe,

I have ordered a SIACE Alaska deluxe SL in 9.3x74. I made the decision after looking at any and all other options for similar money that I could find. The only potential areas of concern that I have is the wood to metal fit on some of the Dakota superlight shotguns, (which are made by Siace) is substandard on some, not all, guns I have seen, and the fact that the barrels have a very high gloss blue (which may cause sighting issues on a very sunny African day). I paid $5500 Euros,(approx U.S.$7000?) for the SL deluxe with false side plates, fully engraved (to a far higher standard than the Siaces for sale at Bass Pro) with an excellent piece of exhibition grade Turkish wood which I chose from their inventory, a case, regulated for Norma 286grn ammo, direct from the factory. From what I have seen it is quite a bit cheaper ordering directly from the factory.
If someone could tell me how to post some pics on this forum I could post some pics they have sent of the Deluxe SL. Its a pretty good looking piece.

sirrocco

Will your 9,3x74R be scoped in QD mounts.

I would highly recommend it.

On medium and small bores from .375 down I think 26" barrels balance much better than shorter tubes and I deplore the tendency towards 24" and 22" barrels that we see on most of the contemporary Euro double rifes.

Amen to that.
