DP,

Beautiful rifle; thanks for posting it! I'm in the midst of re-stocking a custom Ruger No.1 450#2, and this is the sort of styling I'm looking for.

Thanks,

Jeff

I'm very pleased with the No.1 450#2. I had the re-chamber done by SSK Industries, and they did a great job. I shot it as is for a while, to make sure all was well, and it was. Shoots 500gr Hornadys into cloverleafs! The work, that I'm doing now is purely cosmetic.

Some time ago, Les Bauska had some Ruger #1-type actions cast large enough to handle the .600 Nitro as he was quite taken by the Farquarson-type single-shot rifles of the 1900 period.
: I wonder if his son has any of these action left?? They are out of reach for me (CDN), but not for guys in the States. He should still be in Kalispel, Montana, I believe.

I've always preferred my singleshots to be chambered for something less than "dangerous game rifles" are, but oh how I'd love to shoot that WR at least once!!!

What a nice rifle.

akjeff,
We're gonna have to get together for a shoot sometime. We'll get ovis to bring his 350 Rigby (if he can be talked into it), you bring the 450, and I'll bring my 300 H&H and 500 Jeffery! We'll have a grand ol' time. Maybe a beer or two at the Moose's Tooth after the guns are put away?

DP,

I would like to do that as well. When I have a reasonable amount of time away from work, I will surely contact you. I just scored a custom Sharps Borchardt that I'll bring to the range to test. Its a varmint gun based on a military action. It has a heavy barrel chambered in .219 Zipper Imrpoved. I am really thrilled, as I've been on the hunt for an 1878 for a while now. I'll PM you my contact info.

Regards,

Jeff
