Announcing the 2005 NitroExpress.com Water Buffalo Hunt

NitroExpress.com and Hunt Australia will be holding a group buffalo hunt in August 2005. The hunt will be held at Gan Gan, on the remote East Coast of Arnhemland on the Gulf of Capricornia. A true wilderness area, the only other people in the area is a small community of the traditional owners.

Buffalo are free ranging and plentiful. Trophies in the neighbourhood of 100 inches can be expected with the largest taken this year being 111 inches and two at 106 inches (I’m a lucky recipient of one of these and the last client of the season immediately after the second! Both guided by Matt Graham). Most clients take their buff by the second day of a five day hunt.

The camp is of a comfortable international standard.

Getting there. Daily flights can easily be booked via Cairns or via Darwin to Nhulunbuy (Gove) and a charter flight from Gove to Gan Gan. A great side holiday to either place (the Top End or the Great Barrier Reef) would be a nice addition. Other great South Pacific hunts such as Top End boars, New Caledonian Rusa, NZ alpine hunts could also be organised if wished.

Dates proposed are from Monday 8th of August 2005 to Friday 12th of August. Five full days hunting. The hunt will be on a 4x2 basis and at a favourable price. Alternatively 1x1 hunts can be organised for those interested at other dates, but days will fill up between now and January.

More info: Please contact me by PM (private message) or email ( John.Hahn@NitroExpress.com). Please supply an email address and your real name. Thanks.

An example of nice ‘little’ buff. And no you don’t have to hunt them in the water!

Watch out for "60 Minutes"! They are a scurvey bunch who'll blindside you. They have no ethics...

The hunt looks to be fantastic. What would you consider as the minimum caliber for these big guys?

The calibre that is recommended as a minimum is the .375 H&H Magnum.

They have been shot with much smaller calibres but also from a variety of scenarios and not always on foot in the past. But they are a big animal and capable of turning things nasty so it makes sense to use something adequate.
