victorian firearms laws storing firearms
      #11952 - 19/03/04 09:50 PM

Hi all this is taken from the Victorian police website on storing firearms link is here http://www.police.vic.gov.au/showContentpage.cfm?contentpageID=12749

Licences for category A or B firearms
The firearm must be stored in a receptacle which:
• is constructed of hard wood or steel so that is not easily penetrable;
• if it weighs less than 150 kilograms when empty, must be fixed to the frame of the
floor or the wall of the premises; and
• is locked when any firearm is stored in it.
Any ammunition must be stored in a separate locked container.

question is whats the main thing people are using to store their ammo in?? i have a nice steel tool box that i can lock with a padlock, im going to line it with some foam and use that ,sound ok??

Also does anyone use Silica Gel bags in their Ammo box or gun safes/cabinets to help keep moisture out of the way and to help prevent rusting , i have access to large amouts of this stuff at work that come in bags as small as ya finger to bags of kg's in size ready to use ..

Fishman, you answer your own question. Your method of storage sounds fine. As long as it is locked separately I think you will do fine eg a lockable drawer, cupboard, box etc

I don't bother but if you can get it readily and cheap, why not?
