Nice work, very satisfying to finish with a couple of full bags.

I missed the last few days due to family commitments over Christmas, but snuck out just after the mid-December monsoon for a couple of whistle ducks. The geese had already gone!

Whistle ducks? Are they male ducks that have been sub-incised? Why, when I think of whistling ducks, do I think of Paulie on 'The Sopranos'?

Cheers

I hunted behind two amazing Draathars and we put up a lot of birds; much more than I expected considering the high winds.

It's nice to see most of you guys using doubles on a waterfowl hunt! The pump looks like a Winchester 1901?

I have been using Draathars for about 15 years--they are truly an amazing dog..at least all the ones I have come in contact with...my male retrieves ducks out of water yet points pheasants and sharptail all day long as well as backs if another dog is on point..along with their tracking ability on both bird and larger game...really like that breed...

I have a line on a litter coming up in Jan/Feb and am seriously considering buying a pup from him. I've raised, trained, and hunted over English Setters but am now "dogless". I seriously considered a GSP until I hunted with these Draathars for the first time.

Looks like fun.

Still waiting to see if we will have an SA duck season. Any day now.
